Words aren’t enough
One often sees in life, words simply aren’t enough,
when you try to console a friend, when their life seems rough.
You seek to find just the thing, you could possibly say,
but no matter what you feel, it doesn’t take their pain away.
You wish you could be there for them, you strive to be a friend,
your heart feels great sympathy, as they seek to comprehend.
You only can watch them, as their challenges take their toll;
where do they get strength to be so strong, how do they stay whole?
Then something seems familiar, how could you not see it before?
They have been turning to the Lord, seeking His love so pure.
Through it all, we may see, why things must happen this way,
if we seek for understanding, and open our hearts to pray.
Clearly words cannot do much, no matter what we impart,
but one who knows us all so well, can directly heal the heart.
